Elan Vital
This award winning range presents the ultimate in stripped down aesthetic. Using parts reminiscent of commercial ball valves and plumbing unions this range offers a unique visual combined with the advantages of modern valves and aeration.
What’s the story
Initially developed for a ‘container home’ project, Elan Vital took its inspiration from the typical plumbing shut-off valve handle found in plumbing installations. However to add some finesse to the design we employed two knurling techniques in the design – a diamond knurl used on edge of rosettes and the ends of spouts and a linear knurl used on the cap that locates the handle’s intentionally industrial visible fixing screw.

Maker’s Notes
Normally the rough surfaces of sand-cast components would be burnished away to leave a smooth, polished surface, but here we wanted to maintain an authentic aesthetic and an intriguing textured surface that would play differently with our finishes. So we leave them pretty much as they come out of the mould, just touching off the join line left from the 2 halves of the mould before starting work on applying their selected finish
Of course Elan Vital is most often applied to more industrial fitouts but it also sits well against exposed grain woods. We find that authentic finishes such as Aged Brass, Brushed Nickel and Gunmetal evoke a utilitarian approach alongside artisanal finishes such as Vintage Brass, Vintage Copper or Pewter. The range also features multiple eye-catching statement pieces such as exposed shower and bath systems like ELV28 or ELV51, which can take us over a week just to assemble, curing them in multiple jigs along the way
