8 Types of Brass Finishes for your Bathroom Taps

If you want to give your bathroom a little more oomph, a solid brass bathroom faucet may be just what you’re looking for to complete the look. Brass exudes warmth and a touch of glitz.

These types of brass finishes will provide you with plenty of motivation.
Aged Brass
Perhaps our greatest secret and one of our unique signature finishes, Aged Brass, offers a gracefully aged, time-worn brass patina straight out of the box.

Mellowed brass tones and surface wear are lovingly created by our artisans by a series of hand applied processes that leave an endlessly tactile and authentic finish.

Our Brushed Brass finish features subtle brush marks which add character to the surface whilst not working to steal the show away from the mellow warmth of the brass below.
Brushed Brass
Fine brushing creates a dulled, tactile surface to this brass, which is then sealed to ensure tarnishing won’t occur.

As with all of our brushed finishes, we take a delicate approach to brushing our surfaces that’s unique in the marketplace.

This is certainly true with our Brushed Brass finish which is subsequently encapsulated by an industry leading 2 layers of matt lacquer to leave a smooth and wonderfully dulled surface that won’t tarnish over its lifetime.

Heritage Brass
An alternative to Vintage Brass, this finish presents a glossy version of our popular burnished brass look.

Heritage Brass is classic finish. Evocative of old world opulence, it is painstakingly created by coating the brass surface with a black oxidizing agent, before having this oxidization carefully brushed away to reveal the brass beneath.

Only once the right balance has been found do we then seal the surfaces with an industry leading 2 coats of gloss lacquer.

The act of applying a gloss lacquer over our Heritage Brass’ artisanal surface works to present a preserved finish look. Presenting it under a glassy protective layer highlights the variance of stokes that have been applied by our polishers.

Polished Brass

Employing a five stage process, this graceful brass is sealed to ensure tarnishing won’t occur over its lifetime.

For those looking for a brass, polished surface that will not tarnish, this is the one. When brass is first polished it becomes very light and so critically, every component we make is left to stand to mellow before capturing that warmth below the hand application of an industry leading 2 layers of gloss lacquers.

Clean sharp reflections and smooth surfaces of our Polished Brass bathroom & kitchen fixtures offer an exacting and clean aesthetic.
Natural Brass
Raw Brass, polished. You’ll not find a more honest demonstration of the sincerity and quality of our products.

With today’s inclusion of plastics and alloys in brassware, there are few companies who can offer products to their customers made from solid brass.

Whilst tarnishing is a significant characteristic of this material, we love Natural Brass, like Stainless Steel, for a material integrity that, with no finishing layers on top of the surface, there’s nothing to wear off, which means that scratches and tarnishing can always be easily removed.

Without a surface coating, the edges of Natural Brass products present cleanly and crisply. The naturally oxidized layer means that surfaces appear light after polishing and gradually darken to a warm yellow over time.
Rustica Brass
We’ve created a velvet surface to this dark tactile finish to allow it to capture light within its warm brass base.

Finishing for us is as much about surface texture as it is depth of colour and tone.

Rustica Brass is a great example of how these interests overlap in the creation of a very unique finish that posses a velvet surface and a deep colour that is built up through the application of several layers of materials.

Whilst Rustica Brass offers an intensely deep black surface there is also a softness to its look that allows it to sit comfortably in most spaces without needing to shout.

Its velvet surface is highly caressable and its warm tone sees it pair well with a lot of adjacent materials.
Tarnished Brass
A lacquered version of our Aged Brass surface, providing a soft patina in a form that won’t change over time.

Designed for those seeking a dulled, natural looking brass that also remains consistent throughout its lifetime.

Tarnished Brass is another of our signature finishes that demonstrate the incredible skillset of our team in creating looks that others cannot.

As with so many of our finishes we are interested in presenting movement, depth and expression.

Tarnished Brass certainly demonstrates how these interests can be used to capture subtle movement under a matt lacquered surface, that allows the finish to captivate.
Vintage Brass
Careful burnishing back of a secret tarnished formula provides this finish with a unique cast bronze look.

Our Vintage Brass finish offers a worn-in look that is painstakingly created by coating the brass surface with a black oxidizing agent, before carefully brushing this away to reveal the brass beneath.

Only once the right balance has been found do we then seal the surfaces with an industry leading 2 coats of matt lacquer.

When compared to Heritage Brass we feel this artisanal effect is softened by its presentation under a matt lacquer that adds a subtlety to its expression.

Darkened areas remain in tighter joints and angles to provide contrast and further evidence of how our artisans leave their own unique expression on each product.
